Silicone mold with four elongated compartments for making Collins spears: tall, narrow blocks that fit perfectly in a highball glass. One spear fills the glass from top to bottom, keeping your drink chilled throughout. Designed for gin and tonics, highballs, and a Tom Collins.
Why use a Collins spear?
You would normally fill a highball glass with a handful of loose cubes. Together, they have a large surface area and therefore melt quickly, making your tonic watery within ten minutes. A single long spear has much less surface area, keeping the glass cold for longer with the same amount of ice. An added benefit is that the glass looks less cluttered, and your bubbles stay fizzy longer because there are fewer edges for carbonation to escape from. Filling, removing, and cleaning
Place the mold level in the freezer; otherwise, the compartments will run into one another. Use cold water that you have let stand first; this reduces air bubbles and produces clearer spears. They will be completely frozen after approximately six hours. Push against the silicone from underneath to loosen the spears, so you do not break them.
