Adding smoke to a cocktail doesn’t have to be a complicated ritual. This wooden cocktail smoker from Bar Professional Speakeasy is a compact attachment that sits directly on a glass, tumbler, or small carafe. Measuring 12.4 cm wide, 11.2 cm deep, and 6 cm high, it takes up barely any space on your station, while the solid wood feels comfortable in your hand as you work. Because the smoke chamber is positioned at the top, the glass remains unobstructed, allowing you to serve the drink without first taking the entire setup apart.
Working with wood chips
Fill the chamber with a small scoop of chips, place the smoker on the glass, and ignite it with a torch until the chips begin to smolder. Let the smoke infuse for thirty seconds to one minute, then serve immediately so the aroma is still hovering above the drink when the guest picks up the glass. The type of wood determines the character: oak and hickory provide a robust, almost barbecue-like note, while apple and cherry remain sweeter and more subtle. This makes the smoker highly versatile, from an Old Fashioned with bourbon to a mezcal Negroni or even a smoked alcohol-free serve. A torch and chips are not included, so you can decide which flavors to use.
Care
Allow the smoker to cool completely, tap out the ash, and wipe the wood with a dry cloth. Do not put it in the dishwasher or soak it: wood stays looking its best with dry care. The smoker is part of the Bar Professional series and matches the other cocktail smokers.
