Start with the drink. The 45 cl tumbler is a long drink size: filled with ice there is still room for spirit plus mixer, so the ratio works out and the glass is not full to the brim. The cocktail glasses are shorter and wider. At 26 cl you pour a cocktail served without ice, or a smaller serving with a single lump. At 34 cl you have leeway for crushed ice and a garnish. Note the quantities too: the tumbler comes in threes, the cocktail glasses in twelves.

Fill a glass with ice before you pour, not after. Ice that is already cold in the glass melts more slowly and dilutes your cocktail less. Stir in the glass only when a recipe consists purely of spirits; as soon as juice, syrup or egg white is involved the mixture goes into the shaker. A mojito is built straight in the tumbler, with the mint at the bottom and crushed ice on top. An espresso martini you shake hard and strain into the 26 cl cocktail glass.

Bormioli Rocco makes Luna from tempered glass, intended for many wash cycles in a row. The glasses may go in the dishwasher, provided you place them apart from one another: a tumbler without a foot tips easily and then knocks against its neighbour. Do not wash them together with cutlery that can fall over. A haze after drying is almost always caused by lime in the water or by too much detergent. Rinsing and drying straight away with a linen cloth solves it.
