Kwaremont
Kwaremont is a Belgian blond beer from Brewery De Brabandere in Bavikhove, West Flanders. The beer is named after the Oude Kwaremont, the famous cobbled climb in the Flemish Ardennes. It tastes bittersweet, with tropical fruit and a spicy finish. Kwaremont Bock is also available in autumn.
A blond beer with a climb in its name
The Oude Kwaremont is a long, steep cobbled climb in the Flemish Ardennes, known from cycling races such as the Tour of Flanders. Brewery De Brabandere, a family brewery from Bavikhove near Harelbeke, named a blond beer after it. People often search for kwaremont beer, and usually mean this blond beer.
Kwaremont Blond is a top-fermented beer with 6.6% alcohol. It is clear bronze in colour, with a firm head. The taste is bittersweet, with tropical fruit, a lightly spicy note and a spicy, hoppy finish. For autumn, there is Kwaremont Bock: a full-bodied and spicy bock beer, also with 6.6%, full and smooth in taste.

Bittersweet with a spicy finish
Tropical fruit
The blonde smells of tropical fruit and hops, with a spicy yeast note. The bock smells of malt, caramel and spices.
Bittersweet
Full and soft, with a slight sweetness balanced by clear bitterness.
Spicy
The blonde finishes spicy and hoppy, making it refreshing. The bock lingers fuller and softer.
Kwaremont Blond flavor profile. The bock scores higher on sweetness and lower on bitterness.
How to pour Kwaremont
Pour Kwaremont chilled and with a firm head, into a stemmed glass.
Chilled
Drink the blonde at 5 to 7 degrees. The bock can be slightly warmer, around 8 to 10 degrees, so the spices and malt come through better.

Pour at an angle along the side of the glass, then straighten the glass at the end. This gives you a two-finger head that holds the aroma.

Beer tasting at home →Kwaremont at the table
The bittersweet blonde is an easy-drinking table beer, while the bock belongs with autumn dishes.
Drinks and snacks
With cheese cubes, bitterballen and dry sausage. The bitterness cuts through the fat.
Chicken and fish
With roast chicken, mussels or fried fish. The tropical fruit pairs well with lemon and herbs.
Game and mushrooms
With venison stew, rabbit or mushroom risotto.
Stew
With hachee, beef stew or hutspot. Autumn on your plate and in your glass.
The right glass for Kwaremont
A Belgian blonde belongs in a tulip or chalice glass on a stem. The shape holds the aromas of fruit and hops, while the stem keeps your hand away from the beer. Choose 38 to 40 cl for a 33 cl bottle with a head. These are the glasses we recommend ourselves.
