Bormioli Rocco Line

Start with the size. The 29 cl tumbler is the all-rounder: spacious enough for a generous glass of water, low enough to stand steadily and fit in a fully loaded dishwasher rack. The 39 cl highball glass is narrower and taller, leaving enough capacity for a proper serving even after a generous scoop of ice. Those who choose both cover the entire daily routine with two shapes. The colored tumblers also serve a practical purpose: at the table, everyone recognizes their own glass, which significantly reduces the number of half-full glasses on the counter. Find more colors in the colored glasses.

Line is a tumbler, not a wine glass. Water, juice, soda, iced tea, and lemonade are all well suited to it; for wine, you miss the bowl that keeps the aroma together. The 39 cl highball glass is the right size for a gin and tonic or a Cuba Libre: fill the glass more than halfway with ice, pour in the gin or rum, and top up with tonic or cola. Pour the mixer down the side of the glass rather than into the middle, and you will retain noticeably more carbonation.

Line is made of clear glass and is dishwasher-safe. Use a glassware programme at low temperature and place the glasses apart from each other in the rack; rims tapping against each other are by far the most common cause of damage. Afterwards let them steam off with the door ajar and they will dry without marks. With hard water, rinse aid keeps away the dull haze that otherwise settles on the wall. A glass with a damaged rim should no longer be used.
