The 25 centilitre is the smallest and made for sherry, dessert wine or a tasting sip. The 35 cl suits fresh white wine that you want to keep cool. The 47 cl is the all-rounder for white and light red. The 58 cl gives bordeaux and other tannic wines the height to round off, and the 70 cl is the burgundy bowl in which aroma gathers before it reaches the narrow rim. The 17 cl champagne glass is a focused aperitif size. If you want to manage with two glasses, take the 35 and the 58 cl: together they cover just about every bottle on the table.

With the large bowls a third full is enough, and with the 70 cl even a quarter. Anything more comes at the cost of the space in which aroma gathers. Pour aged red wine carefully so the sediment stays in the bottle, then give it a few minutes in the glass before you take the first sip. White wine does not need to be ice cold: at around ten degrees you taste more. The 17 cl champagne glass is pleasant for an aperitif such as a Kir Royal or a Sgroppino.

NUDE Glass works with lead-free crystal, which is clearer and lighter than ordinary glass and whose rim is finished without any thickening. That feels pleasant against the lips but also makes the rim vulnerable. The glasses can go in the dishwasher provided they stand apart and do not touch. Pick them up by the bowl rather than the stem, because twisting force on a slender stem is what eventually breaks it.
