NUDE Glass Primeur

The size decides which wine belongs in it. The 26 cl is a small glass for young white wine or an aperitif, the 32 cl is the wider white wine size, and the 42.5 cl is the all-rounder in which a light red also looks right at home. The 60 cl burgundy bowl is round and wide, meant for pinot noir and other wines that live off their aroma.

There is also a 10 cl liqueur glass, which comes into play after dinner for grappa, limoncello or a sweet dessert wine.

Fill a wine glass to about one-third full, and no further. The empty space above is not waste but the place where the aroma gathers. Then swirl it a few times so the wine climbs up the sides and exposes more surface area to the air, and only then smell it. You notice this effect most clearly with the 60 cl Burgundy glass. By contrast, you should fill the 10 cl liqueur glass almost to the top, because a sgroppino or chilled limoncello should be served ice-cold and drunk quickly.

Lead-free crystal is thin but can go in the dishwasher without trouble, provided you choose a short programme and keep the bowls apart. Stems tapping against each other are the main cause of breakage, not the water or the temperature. Polish afterwards with a lint-free cloth while the glasses are still warm, so the remaining water evaporates without limescale traces. Store them upright and put nothing on top of them.

If you prefer to search by shape rather than by collection, the white wine glasses and the red wine glasses are sorted by bowl size. You can find the 10 cl glass among the liqueur glasses and the limoncello glasses. The other collections from this brand can be found under NUDE Glass. If you are serving a bottle at the table, the carafes are an obvious choice. For an aperitif with bubbles, check out the recipe for Aperol Spritz.
