RCR Aria

The bowl size determines how much air the wine gets. The 38 cl is the smallest and works for white wine that you want to keep chilled; the less wine there is in the glass, the longer it stays at the right temperature. The 46 cl is the all-rounder for white and light red wine. The 72 cl has a Burgundy shape: round and wide, intended for highly aromatic grapes such as pinot noir. The 79 cl is the most spacious and gives full-bodied red wine the most air. Pour sparkling wine into the 36 cl flute if you want to preserve the bubbles, or into the 33 cl coupe if aromas are more important. See also the red wine glasses and the champagne flute glasses.

Pour only to the widest part of the bowl, not higher, because the space above it traps the aromas. In a 79 cl glass, that is often no more than one-third. Hold the glass by the stem so your hand does not warm the wine, and swirl briefly rather than for a long time. A freshly opened bottle benefits from air: pour one glass first, then let the rest sit for a while. For a festive start, a mimosa or a champagne cocktail work well in a coupe.

Luxion is lead-free crystal glass with a hardened rim, which is why Aria may go in the dishwasher. With thin bowls the placement matters more than the programme: put the glasses apart in the rack so the rims do not touch, because that is where most cracks start. Dry the stem afterwards with a clean cloth, then no rings are left behind for the light to break on. With hard water a short rinse helps to prevent limescale on the bowl.

If you want to see which other series the brand makes, check out RCR, where you’ll find Alkemist and Brillante alongside Aria. If you’re looking beyond a single series, you’ll find all the stemware under wine glasses. For a bottle that needs to breathe first, the decanters are ready, and bubbles stay cold in one of the champagne coolers. If you’re still not sure which size you need, start with the 46 cl glass.
