Arcoroc Stack Up

Two sizes usually cover everything. A 26 or 32 cl tumbler for water, soft drinks and juice, and a 40 or 47 cl long drink glass for beer, tonic and cola over ice. The 21 cl is small enough for a glass of water beside the coffee or a child's portion. Watch the height when stacking: seven 32 cl glasses stand taller than you think, so measure your shelf before ordering. Fill a long drink glass right up with ice first and only then pour, because half-filled ice melts faster and waters your drink down. For a gin & tonic the 40 cl is the most comfortable size: enough ice, enough tonic and still a centimetre of rim to spare. Build a cuba libre in the same glass, with the lime squeezed in before the cola goes on top. After washing, only slide glasses into each other once they are dry.

Two glasses stuck together come apart if you stand the lower one in lukewarm water and pour a splash of cold water into the upper one. Prevention is easier: only stack dry glasses, and no more than six or seven high. In the dishwasher, place them separately in the rack and never inside one another, or the inside won't rinse clean. Tempered glass takes that day in, day out without trouble.
