The sizes are more generous than you are used to with table glassware, and that is a deliberate choice. A 39.8 cl water glass does not need topping up every two courses during a dinner, which makes a difference at a table of eight. The 48.5 cl long drink glass has room for a full layer of ice plus the drink itself, which you simply do not get with a 30 cl glass. When combining them, pay attention to the height: these two stand side by side in a rising line, which looks calmer than two glasses of equal height. If you are after matching bowls, you will find them among the wine glasses, and other stemless models among the water glasses.

Place the water glass to the right of the wine glass, slightly further back, so guests can pour past it without knocking anything. Fill to about three centimetres below the rim. The long drink glass is the shape for everything you lengthen with ice: a hugo spritz with elderflower, prosecco and mint works well here, as does a gin tonic where you let the tonic run down along the wall to save the fizz.

Zwiesel Glas uses Tritan, a type of glass with titanium and zirconium incorporated into it. That makes the rim and the wall considerably more resistant to breakage and to the dulling you see with ordinary glass after hundreds of dishwasher cycles. Do place them in the rack so they do not touch each other, because no type of glass protects against breakage from knocking.
