The smaller 36.7 cl size is the water glass for the table. The larger 54.8 cl one leaves room for ice, which makes it right for iced tea, lemonade and anything you top up with sparkling water. Many people buy a set of each, so every guest has a small glass for water and a large one for everything else.

As for the colours: mixing is fine. Because every glass shares the same shape and height, a table with six different colours looks calm rather than cluttered. If you would rather go without colour, there is the crystal-clear version, which sits happily next to a coloured set.

A stemless tumbler is more versatile than it looks. Water and juice speak for themselves, but the large size works just as well for an Aperol Spritz or a Hugo Spritz, which is easier to fill with ice in a tumbler than in a bowl on a thin stem. Fill to about two thirds if ice is going in. Outdoors and on a terrace the missing stem is another advantage, because less gets knocked over.

The glasses are made of Tritan crystal glass and are dishwasher safe. Run a short glassware programme and rinse afterwards with soft water, because a film of limescale shows up even more on coloured glass than on clear glass: that layer hides exactly the shade you chose the glass for. Without a stem this type of glass is fairly robust, but the rim stays the vulnerable point. Do not stack them inside one another and store them opening up.
