The 25 cl tumbler is on the small side for water at a long dinner, but exactly right if you set it beside a wine glass instead of using it as your only glass. Its greatest advantage is that it stacks: in a cupboard with little shelf height, or behind a bar with a narrow shelf, that saves half the space. The 26 cl wine glass has a short stem and a small bowl, so it is not a glass for letting red wine breathe. Never fill a small wine glass beyond about halfway; there has to be room above the wine where the aroma can gather. For an aperol spritz you can go fuller, because ice goes in and that space disappears by itself. For a jug of sangria it is the logical size to pour into.

La Rochère presses this glass in a factory that has been running since 1475, and the technique explains its properties: pressed glass has thicker walls and is therefore sturdier than blown glass, and it takes the dishwasher without complaint. With the stackable tumblers, go carefully when a stack sticks; lift a stack by the bottom glass and never pull hard on the top one.
