AU Vodka was founded by two young entrepreneurs from Wales. The name comes from Au, the chemical symbol for gold, and you can see that reflected in the brand: the bottles are gold-coloured, and according to the maker, the Original is filtered through gold. The brand became particularly well known for its fruity flavours in bright colours.
AU's flavoured vodkas are distilled five times, which makes them smooth. They contain 35.2% alcohol, making them slightly lighter than regular vodka, which usually contains 37.5 to 40%. According to the maker, Black Grape is distilled from English black grapes and spring water from South Downs National Park. AU also makes canned premixes: fruit-flavoured vodka, ready to drink with 5% alcohol.

Fill a highball glass with ice, pour in 4 cl of AU and top up with lemonade, tonic or sparkling water. Watermelon pairs well with lemon and mint.
