What is Casamigos Añejo?

A tequila that thinks it’s whisky

Añejo means “aged” and refers to tequila that has spent more than a year in wood. Casamigos Añejo is made from 100% blue agave from Atotonilco El Alto in Jalisco and aged for fourteen months in American oak barrels that previously held premium whiskey. That’s twice as long as the Reposado.

That extra time in wood makes a big difference. The color is deeper, the flavor rounder, and caramel, vanilla and subtle spices play a bigger part. The sweet agave is still there, but in the background. If you enjoy bourbon or smooth whisky, Añejo is a natural next step into tequila.

How to drink it

How to drink Casamigos Añejo

Añejo is a sipping tequila. No shots, salt, or lime: taste it as you would a whiskey or cognac.

Neat, after dinner

Pour 3 cl into a cognac glass or tulip-shaped tasting glass, at room temperature. Warm the glass briefly in your hand and take small sips. The vanilla and caramel will come through naturally.

With a drop of water

Add a few drops of cool water. This opens up the spices and softens the oak. It's best to avoid ice: it dulls what makes Añejo special.
