Tullamore D.E.W.
Tullamore D.E.W. is a smooth Irish whiskey from the town of Tullamore, in the middle of Ireland. It is a blend of three types of whiskey, distilled three times. Here you can read what the initials D.E.W. mean, which bottles are available and how to drink it.
A whiskey with a man's initials
Tullamore is a small town in County Offaly, in the middle of Ireland. A distillery was founded there in 1829. The initials D.E.W. stand for Daniel Edmund Williams, who ran the distillery at the end of the nineteenth century and later became its owner. His initials became part of the brand name. Tullamore D.E.W. has been part of William Grant & Sons since 2010, and whiskey has been distilled again at a new distillery near Tullamore since 2014.
Tullamore D.E.W. Original is a blend of three types of Irish whiskey: grain whiskey for lightness, pot still whiskey (made from malted and unmalted barley) for spiciness, and malt whiskey for fruitiness. The whiskey is distilled three times, as is the case with much Irish whiskey. This makes it smooth and mellow, and it contains no smoke. There is also Tullamore D.E.W. Honey: whiskey with natural honey, at 35%.
