From a German grain distillery to a Dutch party drink
The Berentzen family began distilling korn in 1758 in Haselünne, in Germany's Emsland region: a neutral grain spirit that holds the place in northern Germany that jenever does in the Netherlands. The company is still based in Haselünne and now makes a whole range of liqueurs using that grain base.
The breakthrough came with Apfelkorn: korn blended with juice from Golden Delicious and Gala apples, bottled at 18%. The result is sweet, fresh and smooth enough to drink ice-cold as a shot. In the Netherlands, Apfelkorn became a party and pub staple; there are also Peerkorn, made with pear, and Apfeltaartje, with apple pie flavor.

Berentzen Apfelkorn
The original: korn with Golden Delicious and Gala apple juice. Sweet, fresh and smooth; ice-cold as a shot or with sparkling water.
Apfelkorn 1 liter
The one-liter bottle for a party or home bar. Makes about fifty 2 cl shots.
Apfelkorn 12 x 2 cl
Twelve 2 cl shot bottles. Exactly one shot per bottle, so there's nothing to measure or wash up.
Berentzen Apfeltaartje
A smooth, sweet shot with the flavor of freshly baked apple pie. Delicious with a swirl of whipped cream and a little cinnamon.
Berentzen Peerkorn
Made the same way as Apfelkorn, but with juicy, sweet pear. Softer and more floral; serve chilled.
Apfelkorn is the classic; Apfeltaartje is the sweetest of the bunch.

Unmistakably apple: fresh, green, and slightly sweet, with the mellow grain note of korn underneath.
Sweet and refreshing
Juicy and sweet, with crisp apple and little alcohol bite. The 18% is barely noticeable, making it easy to drink.

A short, crisp finish with apple and a hint of grain. It's at its best served ice-cold.

Three ways to drink Berentzen
Apfelkorn should be ice-cold. Put the bottle in the freezer for a few hours; its low alcohol content makes it syrupy, which makes the shot even tastier.
As a shot straight from the freezer
Pour 2 cl of ice-cold Apfelkorn into a shot glass and drink it in one go. The cold tempers the sweetness and lets the fresh apple take center stage.

4 cl Apfelkorn with 150 ml sparkling water or tonic in a highball glass full of ice, with a slice of apple. Fresher, lighter, and perfect for a hot day.
