Diplomático Planas
A white rum aged for up to six years, then filtered through charcoal to make it clear. Tropical fruit, coconut, and coffee at 47%: the bottle for making a serious Daiquiri or Mojito.

Aged, yet white
Most white rum is young. Not Planas: it's a blend of 50% heavy rums and 50% light and medium-bodied rums aged for up to six years. The rum is then filtered through charcoal, removing the barrel's color while retaining its maturity. The result is clear, rich, and unexpectedly intense for a white rum.
The strength is different too: 47% compared with 40% for Mantuano and Reserva Exclusiva. That's exactly what you want in a cocktail. Ice, lime, and sugar dilute the rum, and at 47%, enough flavor remains. That makes Planas Diplomático's mixing rum, though you can also drink it neat.
In brief
Tropical fruit, coconut, and coffee
Tropical fruit

Rich and intense
Rich and unexpectedly intense for a white rum, with the 47% clearly present but balanced.
Dry and fresh
A long, dry, and fresh finish, with fruity and creamy notes in the background.

How to get the most out of Planas
Planas is made for cocktails with few ingredients, where the rum itself has to carry the flavor.
Daiquiri
Shake 60 ml Planas, 25 ml fresh lime juice, and 15 ml sugar syrup hard with plenty of ice, then double-strain into a chilled coupe. The test for every white rum.
Go to the recipe →Mojito
Muddle 8 mint leaves with 20 ml lime juice and 15 ml sugar syrup in a longdrink glass, add crushed ice and 50 ml Planas, then top up with 60 ml sparkling water.
Mojito recipe →Neat with one ice cube
3 cl in a tumbler with one large ice cube. The ice tames the 47% and brings out the coconut and tropical fruit.
Tumblers →White rum cocktails with Planas
Wherever a recipe calls for white rum, Planas makes a difference with its aging and strength.

Daiquiri
White rum, lime, and sugar. Three ingredients, so the rum has to be good.
Mojito

Piña Colada
Rum, pineapple, and coconut cream. Planas's coconut notes fit perfectly.
Zombie
