Hennessy Paradis

Dozens of very old eaux-de-vie, each aged for at least 25 years and often much longer. Paradis isn't a cognac to mix, but to savor mindfully, at room temperature and in a good glass.

What is Hennessy Paradis?

Dozens of eaux-de-vie aged for at least 25 years

Hennessy Paradis is a blend of dozens of very old eaux-de-vie. Each has aged in oak for at least 25 years, and often many decades longer. For comparison, ten years is the minimum for an XO. You can taste the difference in the smoothness and in the way the flavors reveal themselves layer by layer.

Where XO is powerful and oaky, Paradis is more refined: dark fruit and plums, honeysuckle and a spicy note from the old oak, without the wood taking over. It's the bottle for a special occasion, and one you'd be doing a disservice to in a cocktail.

How to drink it

A ritual for a special bottle

Paradis calls for calm. No ice, no water and no rush: let the glass and time do their work.

A small pour, a large glass

Pour no more than 25 ml into a tulip-shaped cognac glass. This gives the cognac room to breathe and keeps the floral notes in the glass.

Smelling in three steps

First smell from a distance, then at the rim, and finally deeper into the glass. You'll smell flowers, fruit and wood in succession. Only then take a small sip.

After dinner

At the end of dinner, after coffee, with a few plain chocolates or dried plums. The fruit on the table reflects the fruit in the glass.

The right glass for Hennessy Paradis

For Paradis, choose a tulip-shaped cognac glass or a fine tasting glass; for cognac cocktails with the younger siblings, choose a flute or coupe.

Everything about Hennessy →
What percentage of alcohol is in Hennessy Paradis?
Hennessy Paradis contains 40% alcohol, just like Hennessy's other cognacs.
How old is Hennessy Paradis?
There is no age statement on the label, but every eau-de-vie in the blend has been aged for at least 25 years, and often for many decades longer.
What is the difference between Hennessy XO and Paradis?
XO is powerful, woody, and rich in cacao and spices. Paradis is made from many much older eaux-de-vie and is softer, fruitier, and more floral, with plum and honeysuckle notes and an even longer finish.
How do you drink Hennessy Paradis?
Drink it neat, at room temperature, in a tulip-shaped cognac glass. No ice or water: let it sit in the glass for a few minutes and take small sips.
Can you mix Hennessy Paradis?
You can, but it does the cognac a disservice. For cocktails, Hennessy VS or VSOP is a better choice; save Paradis for sipping neat.
