The Macallan Double Cask 18 Years
Eighteen years in Oloroso sherry casks made from European and American oak. Raisins, sultanas, and caramel, with vanilla, ginger, and a fresh citrus edge. A whisky for moments you want to remember.

Eighteen years of partnership between two types of oak
Double Cask 18 Years matures exclusively in a carefully selected combination of Oloroso sherry casks made from European and American oak. The partnership between two types of wood gives it a warm, distinctive style, and its color comes entirely from the wood.
Compared with the 15-year-old, it's deeper and more mature: where the 15 focuses on vanilla and butterscotch, raisins, sultanas, and caramel take center stage here, with ginger and citrus keeping it fresh. Like the 15, it's bottled at 43%. A whisky for a birthday, an anniversary, or an evening when you're in no hurry.

Tasting profile of Double Cask 18 Years neat, after a few minutes in the glass.
How to give Double Cask 18 the attention it deserves
No ice, no rush. A good glass, room temperature and, if you like, a few drops of water.
Neat, after ten minutes
Pour 30 ml into a tulip-shaped tasting glass and let it rest for ten minutes. That's when the raisins and caramel really emerge. Sip slowly and let it linger in your mouth.
Glass: tasting glass →With two drops of water
After the first sips, add two drops of water with a pipette or teaspoon. The ginger and citrus become more pronounced, and the 43% feels softer.
Glass: tasting glass →With dessert
Serve 30 ml alongside a piece of dark chocolate or a small dish of dried figs and nuts. The whisky's raisin and caramel notes complement them perfectly.
Cognac glasses →If you do want to mix it
Honestly, this is a bottle to drink neat. If you do want to make a cocktail with it, choose a recipe with few ingredients, so the whisky itself can shine.

Sazerac
Whisky, sugar, bitters and a rinse of absinthe. Rich and elegant with a sherry malt.
Hot Toddy
Whisky, hot water, honey and lemon. The ginger and citrus in the 18 fit perfectly.
Hanky Panky
A classic with gin, red vermouth and Fernet. Made with Scotch instead of gin, it's richer and rounder.
