Baileys
The cream liqueur from Ireland, made with whiskey, cream, and cocoa. Here you'll learn which Baileys flavors are available, how much alcohol they contain, how long a bottle keeps, which cocktails you can make with it, and which glass to serve it in.

Irish whiskey and fresh cream in one bottle
Baileys is a cream liqueur from Ireland. It was created in Dublin in 1974 as the first-ever "Irish cream." It contains Irish whiskey, fresh cream from Irish dairy cows, cocoa, and vanilla. The trick is the emulsion. The cream is blended with the alcohol in such a way that it doesn't curdle and can be stored outside the refrigerator.
No liqueur in the world sells more than Baileys, and the brand is owned by Diageo. Besides Original, Baileys varieties include Salted Caramel, Espresso Crème, Strawberries & Cream, and Belgian Chocolate. Seasonal editions also appear around the holidays. Most contain 17% alcohol.
In brief
Baileys flavors and varieties

Baileys Original
The original, made with Irish whiskey, cream, cocoa and vanilla. Creamy, sweet and smooth. Best served ice-cold.

Baileys Salted Caramel
The Original with salted caramel mixed in. Sweet and salty in one sip, and the most popular of all the flavors.

Baileys Espresso Crème
Irish cream that tastes like espresso. Think an Espresso Martini and a Baileys in the same bottle.

Baileys Strawberries & Cream
Pink Baileys with strawberry. Fruity and creamy, perfect for summer. Delicious with prosecco or over vanilla ice cream.

Baileys Belgian Chocolate
Made with real Belgian chocolate. Thicker and richer than the Original, and even more like a dessert.

Baileys 1 liter
The large bottle of Original, handy for the holidays or your home bar. It works out cheaper per glass.
Start with the Original: it works in coffee, on the rocks and in cocktails.
Creamy, sweet and smooth with whiskey
Vanilla & milk chocolate
Sweet cream, vanilla and cocoa. Irish whiskey is very subtle in the background.
Full-bodied and velvety
Thick and creamy. A little like a sweet milkshake, with some warmth from whiskey and chocolate.
Smooth and sweet
Short and smooth, with cream and cocoa. You can barely taste the 17% alcohol.
Flavor profile of Baileys Original. Salted Caramel is sweeter, Espresso Crème a little more bitter from the coffee.
Three ways to drink Baileys
Baileys tastes best cold. Pour it straight from the fridge over ice, into coffee or in a creamy cocktail.
On the rocks
Pour 50 ml of cold Baileys into a tumbler with plenty of ice. Nothing else needed. This is how the Irish drink it, and it’s also the best way to taste it.
Glass: tumbler →Baileys coffee
Pour a shot of Baileys (30 ml) into a cup of hot coffee, with a dollop of whipped cream on top if you like. Prefer it cold? Pour Baileys over ice and add a shot of espresso.
