What is Gordon's?

The London Dry that set the standard

Gordon's is a London Dry Gin created in 1769 by Alexander Gordon in Southwark, London. Its recipe, with plenty of juniper, coriander, angelica root, and citrus peel, has barely changed in over 250 years and is still kept secret. The wild boar on the label comes from the Gordons' family crest. The gin is now owned by Diageo and distilled in Scotland.

Gordon's is one of the best-selling gins in the world and the gin most people used to make their first gin and tonic. In the Netherlands, it is bottled at 37.5%; export and British versions are 40 to 47.3%. Alongside the classic London Dry, there are Gordon's Premium Pink, Sicilian Lemon, Tropical Passionfruit, and an alcohol-free 0.0%.

What is the alcohol content of Gordon's?
In the Netherlands, Gordon's London Dry has an alcohol content of 37.5%, as do the Pink, Sicilian Lemon and Tropical Passionfruit varieties. In other countries, Gordon's is also bottled at 40% and 47.3%. Gordon's 0.0% is alcohol-free.
What is London Dry Gin?
A gin made according to strict rules: all botanicals are distilled together, and no sugar or flavoring may be added after distillation. “London” says nothing about the location; Gordon's is distilled in Scotland. The result is a dry, juniper-led gin.
What's in Gordon's Pink?
Gordon's London Dry with natural strawberry, raspberry, and redcurrant, giving it a pink color and a sweeter taste. It's made for a pink gin and tonic or a spritz with Sprite or prosecco and fresh strawberries.
How do you make the perfect gin and tonic with Gordon's?
Fill a copa or highball glass completely with ice, pour in 50 ml of Gordon's, and top up with 150 ml of cold tonic. Stir once and garnish with a lime wedge (London Dry) or a slice of lemon (Sicilian Lemon). Plenty of ice is the secret: it melts more slowly and dilutes the drink less.
Gordon's or Bombay Sapphire?
Both are London Dry Gins, but Gordon's is more classic and heavier on the juniper, while Bombay Sapphire is lighter and more floral. Gordon's is also cheaper. For a classic, dry gin and tonic, Gordon's is an excellent choice.
Is Gordon's 0.0% really alcohol-free?
Yes, Gordon's 0.0% contains 0.0% alcohol. It's not gin, but a non-alcoholic alternative with the same flavorings: juniper, coriander, and citrus. With tonic and ice, it's the closest thing to a real gin and tonic.
