Jack Daniel's is a Tennessee whiskey from Lynchburg, a village of a few hundred residents in the southern United States. Jasper 'Jack' Daniel registered his distillery in 1866; according to the brand, it is America's oldest registered distillery. It is still there, in the same place by the spring in Cave Spring Hollow.
What distinguishes Jack Daniel's from bourbon is the Lincoln County Process: the fresh whiskey drips through three metres of sugar maple charcoal before going into new, charred oak barrels. This makes it smoother and rounder. The village of Lynchburg is in a dry county: you may taste the whiskey there, but you cannot buy it.

Old No. 7

Gentleman Jack
Filtered through charcoal twice: before and after maturation. Extra smooth and refined, for drinking neat.
Tennessee Honey
Jack Daniel's mixed with honey liqueur. Sweet, smooth, and easy to drink, ice-cold as a shot or with ginger ale.
Tennessee Apple
With the flavor of crisp green apple. Surprisingly good with tonic or iced tea.
Tennessee Fire
Jack with cinnamon liqueur: warm, sweet, and spicy. The American counterpart to Fireball.
Jack Daniel's Bonded
Bottled at 50% under American bonded regulations: one distillery, one season, at least four years old. Full-bodied and powerful.

Sweet, smooth and slightly smoky
Vanilla, caramel & banana
Sweet vanilla and caramel from the new oak, with a typical hint of banana and some charred wood.
Rounded and sweet
Smooth and approachable, sweeter than a Scotch whisky, with caramel, roasted nuts and a light spiciness from the rye.
Warm and lightly smoky
A medium-length finish with charcoal and gentle smoke, without the sharpness of many young whiskeys.

Three ways to drink Jack Daniel's
Jack is the world's most mixed whiskey, but it also works perfectly neat or on the rocks. The glass makes the difference.
Jack & cola
50 ml Old No. 7 with 150 ml cola in a highball glass full of ice, with a lime wedge. The world's best-known whiskey mix; with Tennessee Fire it becomes spicy.

Pour 40 ml over one large ice cube in a heavy tumbler. The ice rounds off the sweetness and keeps the whiskey cold for a long time without diluting it.

Gentleman Jack or Bonded at room temperature in a tulip-shaped tasting glass. Smell first, take small sips and optionally add a drop of water.

Whiskey Sour
Whiskey, lemon, sugar and egg white, shaken hard. The sweet Jack makes it extra smooth.
Old Fashioned
