Bokma Aged 5 Years
Five years in American and French oak: the juniper recedes, making way for vanilla, nuts and wood. A genever to enjoy at room temperature, with aged cheese or with a bock beer in autumn.

Genever aged for five years in oak
Bokma Aged 5 Years is a grain genever aged for five years in American and French oak casks. The wood gives the genever notes of vanilla, nuts and oak, while the juniper recedes into the background. This brings it a step closer to whisky than unaged Bokma genevers.
That puts it between Oude Jenever and the 10-year version. Oude contains only some aged genever; with this bottle, the genever itself has spent five years in casks. The 10-year version goes a step further, with a double maturation. All three are 38% ABV.
In brief
Vanilla, nuts and oak
Vanilla & oak
Vanilla and oak notes, with juniper in the background.
Smooth and full-bodied
Rounder and smoother than an unaged genever. Vanilla and nuts take the lead, with soft juniper underneath.
Warm and slightly sweet
A warm, lightly sweet finish with oak. Longer than with the young or old genever.
Flavor profile of Bokma 5-year-old, aged at room temperature.
Neat, with cheese, or with bock beer
Aged genever is best enjoyed at room temperature. The freezer kills the vanilla and oak.
Neat in a tasting glass
Pour 30 ml at room temperature into a tulip-shaped tasting glass. Swirl the glass briefly and smell the vanilla and nuts before tasting.
Tasting glasses →Autumn Kopstoot with bock beer
A tulip glass of Bokma 5-year-old alongside a glass of bock beer. The vanilla and oak of the genever and the malty sweetness of the beer enhance each other.
Kopstoot →With aged cheese or sausage
A 35 ml shot glass alongside a board of aged cheese or dry sausage. The fat and salt of the snacks make the genever softer and rounder.
Shot glasses →Whisky classics with genever
Oak-aged genever works in cocktails that usually call for bourbon or whisky.

Genever Old Fashioned
Sugar, bitters, and orange zest with aged genever instead of bourbon. The vanilla from the cask does the work.
Sour
Lemon, sugar, and egg white, with the 5-year-old as the base. Smoother and spicier than with whisky.
Kopstoot
A full glass of genever alongside a glass of beer. The 5-year-old calls for a bock beer.
Hot Toddy
Hot water, honey, lemon, and aged spirits. A Dutch winter variation with the 5-year-old.More Bokma flavors
