Hooghoudt Premium Korenwijn
Korenwijn made from wheat, rye and corn: full of grain and intense, yet remarkably smooth. Hooghoudt for those who want more flavor than jonge jenever, enjoyed neat from a roemer or in a genever cocktail.

Korenwijn: the fullest expression of genever
Korenwijn is genever with a high proportion of malt wine: at least 51%, compared with much less in jonge jenever. Malt wine is the grain distillate that gives genever its flavor. Hooghoudt distills its Premium Korenwijn from a blend of wheat, rye and corn, and this combination, along with the distilling method, gives it a full-grained, intense yet very smooth flavor.
While Hooghoudt's jonge jenever is light and fresh, its korenwijn is round and malty, with a lightly spicy juniper note in the background. At 38%, it's between the 35% jonge jenever and the 40% Aged Genever.

Flavor profile of Hooghoudt Premium Korenwijn, served ice cold. Let the glass sit for a moment and the grain comes through even more.
Ice-cold, then let it sit for a little while
Like young genever, korenwijn is best ice-cold. Because it has more flavor, it's worth letting the glass warm up a little afterward.
Ice-cold in a roemer
Pour 35 ml of ice-cold korenwijn into a roemer or tulip glass. Take the first sip while it's cold, then let the glass sit for a little while: the grain and juniper become increasingly pronounced.
Genever glasses →Korenwijn Negroni
Stir 30 ml korenwijn, 30 ml sweet red vermouth and 30 ml Campari over ice in a tumbler, and garnish with a slice of orange. The grain gives it a rounder flavor than gin.
Go to recipe →Jenever Fizz
Shake 50 ml korenwijn, 25 ml lemon juice and 15 ml sugar syrup, pour into a longdrink glass filled with ice and top up with 60 ml soda. Refreshing, with a full grain base.
