Schott Zwiesel Straight

With this range, look above all at how much ice will fit. A 36.4 cl tumbler takes a block of four by four centimetres with room to spare for a double measure. The 44 cl long drink glass takes a full load of ice cubes plus twenty centilitres of mixer. If you want to pour smaller measures, you are better served by the Schott Zwiesel Classic. The thick base adds weight, so the glass is less likely to tip over on a wet bar or a tilted tray. Both sizes come in packs of six.

Build a moscow mule straight in the long drink glass: lime juice, vodka, ice to the rim and ginger beer on top, one stir with a long spoon. A Japanese highball asks for more patience: rinse the glass cold, add ice, stir the whisky over it and only then let sparkling water run down the side. In the low tumbler you pour whisky neat, with at most a few drops of water to open up the aroma. Never stir for more than about ten seconds in a glass with a sparkling mixer, or you will beat the carbonation out of it.

Tritan crystal glass from Schott Zwiesel copes with the dishwasher and with temperature changes, but that does not mean you can hold a glass straight from the freezer under a hot tap. Let it come up to room temperature first. Place the glasses loosely in the rack, because most breakage happens when they knock against each other during the cycle. Put them away upright once dry.
